“Squali Studium Est Optimus”

I believe that “sharks are the best!”, and if you don’t believe that, then I’m hoping I can make you believe that.  Through the media of spoken and written word, and appearances around the United States and the world, I try to give the sharks a voice in places they don’t normally have one. Words are just words though, even fancy Latin words (although Latin does give it a veneer of class).

On this, Planet Ocean (or Earth, as we’ve been taught to call it), money talks.  And so for the past 2 years, I’ve been raising money for shark conservation groups by selling shark poetry, shark tiki mugs, rubber sharks, and t-shirts, and going into the field  to document these amazing animals where they live and bring the experience back to you with video, poetry, and stories.

But your purchases never fund my trips.  100% of the profits go directly to either Fins Attached or Shark Angels.  Profits from “Chumming the Waters” and “Words for the Men in Grey Suits” go to Fins Attached, and “An Idiot Playing in Dakuwaqa’s Gardens” to Shark Angels.  And those sharks, mugs, and shirts get split down the middle.

This guy literally has no idea what I’m doing. (Isla Guadalupe, September 9, 2015)

So, welcome to the “Squali Studium Est Optimus” Conservation Team!  Your purchases help fund shark research and conservation around the world, and hopefully, if you’re reading this, you’ve already changed your mind about sharks, or you love them even more.

And if you need more convincing, check out my blog, with stories and commentary* from the world’s seas, plus articles about how YOU can help save the ocean, no matter if you live on the coast or in the middle of a desert.  Shark conservation doesn’t stop at the waters edge!

* – It goes without saying, my commentary is my opinion, and not necessarily those of Fins Attached or Shark Angels.  If I wrote something you don’t agree with, yell at me, not them.
